BACKGROUND

St Oswald’s CofE Primary Academy, strives to foster a strong sense of community where children’s skills and knowledge are nurtured to help them become compassionate and caring members of society. The school weaves its core values (love, compassion, hope, humility, endurance, koinonia, and service) into every aspect of school life.

PROJECT BRIEF

The school identified the existing playground was no longer suitable for all the children in the school. The aim of the redevelopment was to create an exciting space where children could expend energy, enhance physical development, and build essential social skills through interactive play.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Fawns’ local Outdoor Play Consultant, met with Mr. Chell, the school’s Business Manager, to discuss the vision for the new Key Stage 1 and 2 outdoor play area. During the conversation, they explored the school’s aspiration to create an environment that encouraged imaginative play & boosted physical development and coordination.

Understanding these priorities, the Wooden Climbing Frames range was chosen as the optimal solution. Highlighting how they combine fun, challenge, and physical activity to support the school’s goals.

The new playground designs were agreed. Paving the way for a stimulating and engaging outdoor play area that enables physical activity and will build pupils social interaction for years to come.
