BACKGROUND

Arnside National CofE School is located in the is a charming market town of Carnforth which is nestled within the City of Lancaster, Lancashire.

Arnside National Church of England School is a supportive community where every child is valued, cared for, and encouraged to flourish. This foundation inspires and guides their pupils, staff, and wider school family to aspire with confidence, believe in themselves and others. Helping to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

PROJECT BRIEF

The existing EYFS and KS1 play area was showing signs of wear, as it had not been renewed for over 15 years, and no longer met the needs of the children. The goal of the project was to refresh the space, replacing outdated equipment with vibrant, modern play equipment.

The new design needed to be inclusive, as well as supporting physical development by offering a variety of active challenges, encouraging imaginative play, social interaction, and teamwork.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

With funding successfully secured through a combination of generous donations and Capital Funding, the school was ready to take the steps in transforming its outdoor provision. The local Outdoor Consultant met with the EYFS Lead and Headteacher to explore the school’s aspirations for an engaging and inspiring new play area.

The consultant worked in close partnership with the school, considering the requirements before developing a proposal designed to meet both their educational and practical needs. After review of the designs and costings, the school made the decision to partner with Fawns. This choice was influenced by the quality and range of equipment available, as well as competitive pricing and strong reputation for delivering projects that truly reflect the needs of schools.

The collaborative approach gave the school confidence that their new play area would be a safe, exciting, and sustainable investment for years to come.
