BACKGROUND

Highfurlong School is located in the vibrant seaside town of Blackpool.

The school is committed to understanding the needs and aspirations of its pupils.  By fostering a supportive and stimulating learning environment, Highfurlong strives to help each child reach their full potential.

They have a very clear vision: to inspire both staff and children to reach their full potential. Offering a tailored curriculum that challenges students in all subjects, ensuring a high-quality education.

PROJECT BRIEF

The school identified an underutilised outdoor space and recognised the need to provide opportunities for their children to develop their movement skills.

The staff wanted to aim to create a stimulating environment that would encourage children to engage in physical activity, enhancing their balance, agility, coordination, and climbing abilities. Another goal for the new play space was to promote social interaction between the pupils as well as with the teachers.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Highfurlong school already had their funding in place with a clear budget for the project. This allowed the staff at the school to carefully plan the allocation of funds to ensure the best possible outcome.

Our Fawns representative met with the Pupil Premium Lead to discuss the school’s vision for the new play space. Together, they discussed ideas and strategies to create an engaging environment that would promote physical activity and skill development.

After careful consideration, a final design and quotation was presented and agreed upon. This design reflected the school’s specific needs and objectives, ensuring that the new play space would be a valuable asset to the school environment.
