Customer Feedback

We are absolutely delighted with the playground that Fawns have designed and installed for us. They worked closely with us to formulate a staged approach to the installation, based on when our grants became available and while we did not finally need to do this it gave us great peace of mind that we could have an overall goal of a fantastic facility, rather than having to settle for less. Their consultation was excellent and the installation team brilliant.

BACKGROUND

The small parish of St Sampson is located near the Fowey Estuary, encouraging many visitors during the holiday seasons. It is thought be to be named after the bishop named St Samson who was said to have founded the monastery in the local area.

PROJECT BRIEF

The Parish had a clear vision for their new playground and had a specific desire to have a play ship as the centre piece being so close to an estuary, ensuring inclusivity and challenge for a range of children from the local community to enjoy.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Through the hard work of the council, funds were raised from events such as fete’s, car boot sales and a dog show, as well kind donations from the local community. The council also had a successful bid for the County Community Infrastructure Levy fund.

To ensure best value for money the Parish Council decided to go out to tender and asked 3 playground suppliers to provide a design and quotation. As the council had an idea in mind and knew they needed to cater to a wide range of ages and abilities; it was a very specific brief.

Having met with the Parish Council the local consultant created a design and put forward a proposal, really considering the needs of the new play area whilst keeping a focus on the budget available.

The proposal and quote were put forward for local consultation and with some minor adjustments Fawns were selected as the overwhelming favourite, putting forward the best playground design in line with the brief, presenting the best value for money without compromising on the quality.
