Customer Feedback

I would happily recommend Playtime by Fawns because the equipment is well made, the installation went without a hitch and the children love the finished play tower. The service we got from Charlie, the rep, was great.

BACKGROUND

Slyne-with-Hest is a charming village located north of Lancaster city centre. Situated on the coastline north of Morecambe, the village is well-equipped with amenities, including a primary school, churches, public houses, and cafes.

It’s an ancient village with a name dating back to the Middle Ages. Its historical features include the mid-17th century stocks on Throstle Grove, used until the 19th century.

PROJECT BRIEF

Having identified damage to the current play tower, the Parish Council decided it was time for a replacement. To maintain the park’s natural look, the new tower needed to be made of wood and complement the existing play equipment, whilst also providing additional play features.

The council, using their own funds, could begin the process of identifying a company to replace the existing play tower.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Fawns’ local outdoor play consultant, Charlie, met with Slyne-with-Hest Parish Clerk to discuss the best wooden play towers that would not only suit the space but also provide a dynamic range of activities for the children in the community.

The council had already engaged with local children, allowing them to provide feedback on several designs, ensuring Fawns knew exactly what the council were looking for in their new play space. Fawns’ team then created a detailed design to present the chosen wooden play tower and illustrate how it would work best in the space.

The children’s invaluable input led to a final design they particularly loved, especially the tower’s overall look, its slide, mini window, and many opportunities for imaginative play.

To further assure the council of this significant investment, Charlie attended a council meeting, helping the councillors understand the standards of the equipment and what to look for to ensure it would provide long-lasting service and enjoyment for years to come.
