Customer Feedback

“We began to notice that children were becoming less likely to take risks, challenge themselves, or confidently assess situations during play. The new outdoor equipment has been a fantastic addition to our school, helping to rebuild these important skills in a safe and engaging way. It has supported calmer, more purposeful playtimes, encouraged physical activity, and promoted cooperation among pupils. With its bright, inclusive design, all children can access and enjoy it. Most importantly, the equipment has helped us reinforce our school values and meaningful, active play. The personalised touch that was provided by Fawns was great in helping to bring our vision to life.”

H. Fletcher, Headteacher

BACKGROUND

Situated in the historic Saxon town of Audenshaw, Manchester, Poplar Street Primary School has been a cornerstone of the community since 1914.

The school is dedicated to fostering a nurturing atmosphere where every child can flourish and achieve their full potential. Through strong partnerships with parents and wider community, they are committed to providing pupils with an exceptional foundation for life.

PROJECT BRIEF

Observing the children during break times, Mrs Fletcher, Headteacher, recognised the children were becoming disengaged in constructive play, due to a lack of resources in the school playground. To support the children’s development and imagination, it was clear that more exciting outdoor play equipment was needed.

The main objectives of the new playground equipment would be to meet a range of learning outcomes, including increased physical activity and challenge, as well as enhancing decision making, communication and problem-solving skills.

Poplar Street Primary School’s capital funding, specifically reserved for school outdoor development, was utilised to finance the new school playground project.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Having identified the need to enhance the school outdoor play equipment, Fawns Local Play Consultant arranged a meeting with the school to discuss ideas as well as the key objectives for the new play space.

Thanks to the school’s well-defined specification, which clearly outlined the aspirations for the space, the team created a suitable design proposal and quotation which was presented to the school.

Following a strong recommendation, the Headteacher selected Fawns. Drawn to our bright and vibrant brochure and our competitive pricing, which offered a significant advantage.

Everything was in place. The installation of the exciting new play area could now get underway.
