“The Headteacher, myself and all the staff and children would like to send a huge and heartfelt thank you for the amazing new trim trail that you have installed at our school. It is a real asset to the playtime for the children and your professionalism and standard of work was impeccable. Going the extra mile in thanking us for choosing you and the acknowledgement of your fitters saying how much they enjoyed being here and installing the new equipment for us. This is what made it such an enjoyable experience for all concerned.”

BACKGROUND

Located in the town of Reading, Berkshire, Bucklebury CE Primary School promotes an inclusive atmosphere embedded in their core school values of love, faith, and hope. Encouraging all children to flourish and thrive in their school environment.

PROJECT BRIEF

The school already had some funding in place through the hard work of their PTA, as well as achieving funding from Greenham Trust.

Greenham Trust’s aim is to support local charities and organisations in the West Berkshire and North Hampshire areas. It provides funding for a range of causes, including, but not limited to, Education, Sport and Health & Wellbeing.

The school identified their existing play trail was no longer fit for use, therefore needed to be updated. It was important for the new trail to be appropriate for Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 as well as EYFS children. Providing challenge and enjoyment for a range of ages and abilities.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

The school had a specific vision for their outdoor play area, defining specific features and intended learning outcomes. Paul, the local Outdoor Play Consultant, was able to leverage his expertise to create a comprehensive playground design. Addressing the school’s definitive requirements in enhancing their outdoor environment.

After the site visit with the headteacher and careful consideration of the school’s needs, the consultant presented a detailed design and quotation. Collaborative discussions took place between the school and the Fawns consultant, and a final design was agreed upon, meaning installation was set to proceed.
