The Log Wall Climber enables children to climb over the top and make their way back down the other side. Helping to develops their gross motor skills, lower body strength, gripping and grasping, as well as co-ordination. And from the top of the it unit, it helps children gain a new perspective of the whole outdoor space from a height.

  • Gross Motor Skills: Climbing over the log wall is a full-body activity that develops large muscle movements, coordination, and balance.
  • Lower Body Strength: Pushing and pulling with their legs to push themselves upwards and control descent builds strength in legs.
  • Gripping and Grasping: Holding onto the textured logs strengthens hand and finger muscles. Improving their grip  and grasp, a crucial skill for writing, drawing, and manipulating objects.
  • Describing Actions and Strategies: Children will naturally talk about what they are doing (“I’m going to put my foot here”), their strategies (“I need to reach higher”), and their successes (“I made it to the top!”).
  • Encouraging Problem-Solving: Children need to figure out the best way to grip, where to place their feet, and how to move their body to overcome the challenge of the wall. This encourages problem-solving skills and strategic thinking.
