Two children play on a wooden rope climbing frame in an outdoor park, with trees and a bench in the background.
Key Outcomes
  • A broader range of inclusive and age-appropriate play options, catering to toddlers through to older children.
  • The park now attracts significantly more visitors, with local children and families using the space more frequently. This has helped foster stronger community connections and encouraged more outdoor, active play.
  • Equipment designed to follow the park’s slope, making use of the natural terrain.
  • Enhances both inclusivity and play value, offering a unique and engaging experience for users.

Customer Feedback

From beginning to end the experience of working with Fawns was positive. Our Design Consultant was excellent and professional in her design her communication and in guiding us through the process. The Contracts Manager and Installations team were excellent and went above and beyond what was expected of them in what was quite a difficult installation involving quite hilly terrain. The work was completed efficiently and to a high standard and we are also very pleased with the equipment itself.

C. Lewis, Chair of Trustees for Victoria Park Brechfa

BACKGROUND

Victoria Park, situated in the rural village of Brechfa in Carmarthenshire, serves as a central recreational space for the local community. Offering a welcoming environment for families and children to gather, play, and enjoy outdoor activities.

PROJECT BRIEF

It had been recognised that the existing play area, adjacent to the village pub, was outdated. No longer fully servingthe needs of local children. The community identified a need for a modern, engaging play space that would encourage children of all ages to come together, be active, and socialize in a safe and inviting environment.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Grant funding from Brechfa West Wind Farm enabled the park to improve its outdoor facilities. The Grounds Consultant met with the Chair of Trustees to discuss the community’s needs.

Identifying opportunities for enhancing the grounds. It was agreed that a trim trail would be an ideal addition, particularly one designed to make the best use of the sloped area of the site.

Following the initial consultation, a detailed design and quotation was prepared and presented to the trust. After review and discussions, the final proposal was approved, allowing the project to move forward with full support from both the school and the village trust.
