Great Ouse Primary Academy

Great Ouse Primary Academy, part of the Sharnbrook Academy Federation, is a brand new school situated in Bedford. The school leaders have created an inspiring learning environment and that includes their outdoor spaces – working with Playtime by Fawns’ National Sales Manager Graeme Scott we designed and installed five individual play and learning zones over the summer of 2017, in time for the school opening in September.
The school encourages their pupils to “dream big”, and for their pre-school and early years area we created a sustainable all-weather play zone which incorporates all the key ingredients associated with the Foundation Stage Framework. Within their Key Stage One play area we designed a challenging trim trail with all-weather surfacing, and an outdoor classroom space to encourage taking the curriculum outside.
To maximise the sport and game opportunities for the whole school we installed a Multi-Use-Games-Area complete with pitch markings for a multitude of sports, and finally for the Key Stage Two children we installed one of our Pick-Up-Sticks multiplay units, capable of accommodating a whole class playing at the same time, with varying degrees of difficulty designed to encourage resilience and improve a whole range of physical skills.
