Playtime by Fawns Celebrates Chancellor’s Visit to Wicksteed Group Manufacturing Base and Renewed National Investment in Play

Playtime by Fawns, part of the Wicksteed Group, is proud to welcome the news of a ministerial visit from the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves MP, to the Group’s play equipment manufacturing base in Kettering. The visit highlighted the Government’s commitment to invest £18 million into playgrounds across the UK over the next three years.

Ms Reeves was welcomed by Katherine Perkins, Managing Director of Wicksteed Leisure. Katherine and the team provided a tour of the facility and discussed the role of British manufacturing in supporting high-quality, inclusive play spaces for children and communities.

Speaking about the investment during her visit, the Chancellor said:

“I’ve announced £18m for playgrounds because we know how important they are for kids and parents. But I also want to make sure that we use that money for play equipment built in Britain and that’s why I’m at Wicksteed today. Because if we invest that £18m I would like those contracts to build those playgrounds to come to businesses like Wicksteed.”

As a member of the Wicksteed Group, Playtime by Fawns is delighted to see national recognition of the value of play. As well as the importance of supporting UK-based design, engineering and installation of play environments.

Over the past 12 months alone, Fawns has worked with almost 750 settings. Including parish councils, leisure sites, nurseries and schools. Helping communities across the country create safe, imaginative and development-rich outdoor spaces.
