BACKGROUND

Located in the market town of Hucknall, Beardall Fields Primary School holds the bar high for all their students, encouraging them to excel and achieve success on their own terms.

The school has a creative and diverse curriculum that develops independence, resilience, and inspirational learners.

PROJECT BRIEF

The school had a large, grassed field in the Early Years Area, which was often rendered unusable due to flooding, prompting the need for a new play area for the younger children.

It was important that this new area focused on the 7 areas of learning and encouraged active play during breaktime and lunchtime.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

With the generous support of the PTA, the school now had a well-defined budget to bring their playground project to life. Having had a positive experience with Fawns in the past, the school was eager to work with us again for their playground needs.

Our local consultant carried out an assessment of the site, engaging in detailed discussions with the school team to understand their vision for the Early Years playground. With a keen focus on the 7 areas of learning, the consultant proposed innovative ideas to enhance the play space while addressing potential water logging issues.

The proposed design was presented and reviewed, resulting in a final plan that perfectly balanced educational objectives with practical solutions for a vibrant and enjoyable play environment.
