Portsdown Primary School – Portsmouth, Hampshire

The new area had to cover an existing area of patchy tarmac which didn’t look great. The area was pretty much a square which is an unusual shape for a trim trail therefore I had to be creative with the design.

The brief from the client was to provide an area for KS1 which had to be low level but challenging which could be used in all weather. They were also keen to soften the look of the area which was mainly tarmac with a high brick wall around the perimeter. The budget was between 14 and 15k.

To maximise the play value and challenge I chose a number of our most popular low level trail items and set them out in a horse shoe shape with a centrepiece which all and all challenged the children. We also surfaced underneath and covered the existing patchy tarmac with artificial gravel to brighten up the area but still have that natural feel.

The end result was great and the customer is as very pleased with the level of service and the end product, it has improved the whole look and feel of the area.
