We met members of the School Leadership team from Fleetville Junior School at the Academies Show in London, where they invited us to visit their school with a view to enhancing their outdoor provision incorporating their vision “motivating everyone to step out of their comfort zones”.
The school takes a particularly innovative approach to PE and Sport, striving to provide an inclusive and inspiring provision, for which they have been recognised with the award of a Gold Kitemark for school games, and which has resulted in significant success both within team and individual sports.
Our observations led us to recommend the expansion of their existing trim trail equipment, to incorporate equipment which would encourage rolling and seek to enhance upper body strength which would improve all rounds athleticism, and to create a showpiece multi-play unit which would enable children of all abilities hone their climbing and balancing skills, instilling confidence and encouraging challenge across the school day.
The area was finished off with our Durabond safer surfacing, creating an extension to the playground which can be used all year round.
