Parkside Primary School Nursery, Borehamwood
Encouraging Imagination Through Play!
First impressions count and this was the case for Parkside Primary School - after moving their nursery from the back to the front of the school.
Staff at the Borehamwood School wanted a playground for the nursery children that would both stimulate them while offering visitors and parents the 'wow' factor!
With an early years foundation stage of three to five year olds to cater for the school decided upon a pirate theme with a beach which would engage the imagination of the children while they played.
Mark Honour, School Site Manager, commented: 'Once we had decided upon a theme I contacted a select number of play equipment companies to come and pitch. We chose Fawns after they gave the best presentation. The Early Years Foundation Stage stipulates that children should be given access to an outdoor play area wherever possible and Fawns is highly experienced in designing imaginative play equipment. Following the installation of the playground the children are thriving by developing their coordination skills and gaining in independence by using the trim trail equipment. Whereas the pirate ship has encouraged team work while letting their imaginations run! Mark continues, 'It is the best thing we have ever done for the nursery.'
"We were impressed with the Play Consultant from Fawns as he was the only one who asked what we wanted and I trusted his opinion."
