CHILDREN CREATE A RECIPE FOR SUCCESS!
Children from Berkeley Primary School turned their love of cakes into a money making business - to raise much needed funds for a new playground!!
Through a series of fundraising events children at the Hounslow school raised enough funds to recreate their playtimes with new imaginative and fun equipment. However the majority of money raised was through their successful cake sales!
The School Council were shown websites of different play equipment companies and a wish list was drawn up by each class. The Children established that Fawns were the only play company able to provide all of the equipment required and a Play Consultant from Fawns was invited to the school to discuss their requirements.
With just one big space used at playtimes, children from the Hounslow school often clashed - with some enjoying the rough and tumble of ball games while others preferred a more peaceful break time. So the Fawns Play Consultant redesigned their playground to incorporate different zones. This was helped with the use of a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) which could be used exclusively for ball games - while sectioning these children off from the others.
Other equipment included a Stage, where children could let their imaginations run away with them by re-enacting scenes from their favourite movies, while an adventurous Trim Trail ensured they were kept physically challenged.
Head Teacher Mrs Bridger commented:'Since the new playground was installed the children have been kept amused each playtime and we have seen a dramatic improvement in behaviour.'
"We were extremely pleased with the service we received from Fawns and how the Play Consultant took into consideration the needs of the children."
